Jacoby Garners Academic All-League Honors

Junior Outfielder Repeats on 12-Player Academic All-League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Steph Jacoby was recognized for her success on the field and in the classroom with Academic All-Patriot League honors, announced Thursday morning. 

Jacoby, who was voted to the 12-player Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second consecutive season, holds a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a chemistry major. She serves as a chemistry tutor in the community and an atmospheric chemistry research assistant on campus.

The junior outfielder will participate in atmospheric chemistry research for seven weeks this summer. Then traveling to Houston for a week of test flights before heading to Pyeongtaek, South Korea, she'll continue research from a hangar on the Osan Air Force. 

The research involves flying around the area to study the chemical and climate impact of the Asian summer monsoon, which can bring moisture and pollution into the stratosphere, affecting climate and the ozone layer. NASA and the National Science Foundation organized the project.

On the field, Jacoby is one of two players on the team to start every game during conference play. She led the team with 33 RBIs and eight multi-RBI games, and is tied for second on the team with seven multi-hit performances. Her five home runs are good for second on the team.

In 18 Patriot League contests, Jacoby batted .316 with seven doubles, three home runs, and a team-best 20 RBIs. Presenting power in the middle lineup, Jacoby's .632 slugging percentage in league play was second best on the team. One of her five homers came in walk-off fashion, lifting the Raiders to a 1-0 victory and series sweep over Buckell on April 17.
