BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate Softball first-year
Marina Taveras has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced on Monday.
Taveras continued her strong debut campaign with another strong performance at the plate, batting .357 (5-for-14) while posting a .429 slugging percentage and a .375 on-base mark over five games. She added an RBI, a run scored, and a walk during the week.
The first-year delivered one of her most impressive outings of the season in Sunday's series finale against Boston University, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate against two-time defending Patriot League Pitcher of the Year Kasey Ricard. Taveras also made a key contribution in Colgate's mid-week doubleheader split at Cornell, ripping an RBI double and scoring a run.
Taveras now leads the Patriot League with three rookie of the week honors. This marks the fourth consecutive week Colgate has been represented on the Patriot League's weekly honor list.
