HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Colgate women's tennis team dropped a close decision in a 4-3 loss to South Carolina State on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs won all three doubles matches to earn the point with the Raiders falling just short in a tiebreaker in the No. 3 match.
Colgate picked up victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles but were narrowly edged out with SCSU earning wins in the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 matches.
FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Bobby Pennington
"After a really slow start in doubles, our ladies battled and clawed their way back in singles, led by Eklund, Levenson and Untermeyer in three set marathons. I feel if we had Atallah in singles healthy and our full lineup we win that match. Extremely impressive performance considering our first time playing outside against a high quality team from South Carolina. Bring on George Mason tomorrow."
