HAMILTON – Colgate knocked off another ranked opponent and broke a 12-year streak, defeating No. 22 Cornell, 1-0, Tuesday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
Aidan Davock netted the crucial game-winning goal late in the second half, securing Colgate's first win over its intrastate rivals since 2008.
Colgate's offensive command paid off in the 77th minute when Davock worked his way through a Big Red defender and struck a lethal shot past the keeper.
Bobby Foose and
Antonio Ducrot collected assists on the play.
Shots finished 9-6 (3-2 on goal) in favor of Cornell. The Big Red held a slight edge in corner kicks, 3-2. Five cards were handed out — three for Cornell and two for Colgate. The Raiders committed 18 fouls to Cornell's 17.
Cornell opted for a more offensive game in the final 10 minutes, but the Raiders stood tall defensively.
Andrew Cooke registered three saves in net for his third clean sheet of the season and Colgate prevailed, 1-0.
The match started out slow as both teams battled it out for possession of the ball. At the 15th-minute mark, a Big Red player was given a yellow card for unsporting behavior. Shortly after, in the midst of a battle for possession,
Simon Hall was given a yellow card.

Antonio Ducrot came into play at the 26th minute.
The first half ended with a score of 0-0, as both teams registered two shots apiece.
Colgate kicked it into gear at the start of the second half, opening up lanes throughout the midfield to push the pace of play in the Raiders' favor.
The Raiders found scoring chances from Ducrot and
Adam Fam but Ducrot had his shot blocked by a Big Red defender and Fam sailed his shot just high.
Colgate's aggressive approach paid dividends down the stretch. Davock's fourth goal of the season broke the scoreless match and led the Raiders to victory, 1-0.
