BALTIMORE, Md. – Men's soccer hit the road Saturday afternoon for a marquee matchup against defending Patriot League champions Loyola Maryland. The Raiders battled it out until the very end, playing to a 1-1 draw.
Aidan Davock registered a goal midway through the second half to force the 1-1 tie.
Andrew Cooke stopped four of five shots to help the Raiders capture the draw.
The Hounds found the back of the net first, sliding one past
Andrew Cooke at the 22nd minute mark. The Raiders looked to bounce back as play continued.
Colgate worked the ball throughout the midfield, creating scoring opportunities with shots from
Aidan Davock and
Nick Steed, but the Hounds keeper stood tall keeping the game at 1-0 in favor of Loyola.
The first half remained quiet as both teams continued to battle it out, the Raiders registered two shots on net to the Hounds three.
Colgate got off to a pacy start the second half, pushing the pace of play at an all time high. Davock put one to the back of the woodwork before it was disallowed, play continued into the final 30 minutes of play with the Hounds up 1-0.
The Raiders offensive presence paid off in the 67th minute of play as Davock ripped one to the back of the woodwork off a cross from
Cason Stafford. Play continued with both programs tied at one a piece.
As play neared the final 10 minutes, the pace of play turned up another notch as both squads looked to take the go ahead lead.
The Raiders battled it out until the very end, forcing the Hounds to the 1-1 tie.
