Raiders Fall Short At Home

American Nets Three In Second Half

HAMILTON – Colgate Men's soccer returned home to Beyer-Small '76 Field for alumni weekend as they hosted American University in a Saturday, Oct. 8 matchup. The Raiders battled throughout the entire first half but fell by a score of 3-0.

Ethan Harris, Aidan Davock, Daniel Brennecke, and Chris Noriega registered a shot on goal in 90 minutes of play.

Saturday's affair started off quiet, as both teams battled for possession throughout the first 45. The Raiders fired a total of four shots in the first half, forcing the goalie to come up big in key moments.

American ran into foul trouble early, landing a total of four fouls throughout the first 30 minutes of play.

The second half saw a change of pace in the Eagles, as they fired one past Andrew Cooke at the 51st minute mark. Play continued as the Raiders looked to even up the score.

A short 11 minutes after the first goal of the game, American banged in two quick ones at the 62nd and 68th minute marks, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of the Eagles.

The Raiders continued to battle back but fell short to a strong American defense.

"Disappointing result after a quality start to the game. The group will learn from this experience, move forward and be better as a result. I am confident we will respond positively and play in a way that is reflective of our values."
