HAMILTON – On the heels of his first collegiate shutout, freshman
Andrew Cooke has been the named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
In his second Colgate start, Cooke posted a five-save shutout to help lead the Raiders to a 1-0 overtime triumph over Army on Saturday. Four of those saves came in the second half to keep the game scoreless long enough for the Raiders to net the game-winner just over a minute into the extra session.
Cooke owns a 0.99 goals-against average and 80.0% save percentage in two starts this season. He has Colgate's lone victory and notched the first clean sheet for the Raiders at Beyer-Small '76 Field since blanking Monmouth 1-0 on Sept. 15, 2019.
This marks the first weekly honor for Cooke, and the first of any kind for the Raiders this season.
Colgate (1-3-0) is back on the road Saturday for a 12 noon kickoff at Bucknell.
