Pierson Brandon of the Colgate men's hockey program has been named the 2020-21 Best Defensive Defenseman by ECAC Hockey.
Playing in all 21 games this season, Brandon has registered a team-leading nine assists along with a team-best plus/minus rating of +9 on the ice. Most recently, Brandon recorded his second multi-point game of the season behind a pair of apples in the 4-3 win at then-No. 10 Quinnipiac (March 6). The Irvington, N.Y., native's first multi-point game of his career came in just his third collegiate appearance against RIT (Dec. 29).
Brandon also tops the team with his 30 blocked shots, which shows his consistency throughout the season behind a four-time season-high of three blocked shots.
Brandon is the first Raider to be named ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman since the award's inception in 1962.
