WORCESTER, Mass.—A group of strong performances put a positive cap on the Patriot League Championships for the Colgate Men's Track and Field team Saturday afternoon at Hart Center Track.
Warren Carter led all individual performers after he qualified for the 110 Meter Hurdles Friday, which led into Saturday's final. He had a strong burst out of the gates and claimed sixth with a time of 14.50, which was .02 off of his own school record. The performance earned the team three points.
Carter also played a role in another point-earning performance. He teamed with
Anthony Castillo, Johna Joseph and
Kobi Grant to finish seventh in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 43.35 for a pair of points.
The relay team of
Oliver Moe, Castillo,
Ethan Dorow and
Shiv Jhanjee combined for another pair of points in the 4x400 Meter Relay with their seventh place mark of 3:22.84.
Moe had the other individual point-earning performance for the Raiders. He crossed the line in 48.84 in the 400 Meter Dash to claim eighth place. Castillo also competed in the event as part of his busy afternoon and finished 18th with his time of 50.96.
A trio of personal records highlighted the 800 Meter Run.
Dillon Aryeh led the pack for Colgate with his PR time of 1:56.53 for 22nd. Dorow also had a PR with his 24th place mark of 1:57.64.
Luke Myers was 27th with his mark of 1:58.32 and
Jonathan Schuldt had another PR in 30th place when he crossed the line in 2:01.10.
Jonathan Abbott narrowly missed out on a top-10 time in the 1500 Meter Run when he was 13th with his time of 4:01.05.
A trio of Raiders competed in the 5000 Meter Run.
Brian LaFleche led all Raiders with his 31st place time of 15:46.02.
Ryan Curran came in right behind in 32nd with his mark of 15:55.11. And
Tommy Williams started, but did not finish.
Elsewhere, Jhanjee fouled in the Triple Jump.
Day 1
The 4x800 Meter Relay team of Abbott, Aryeh, LaFleche and Myers got the Colgate Men's Track & Field team on the board Friday afternoon in day one of the Patriot League Championships.
The quartet combined to run the event in 7:46.39, which was good enough for seventh place and a pair of team points.
Four personal bests were also set for the Raiders, led by a pair of performances in the 10000 Meter Run. Curran set his new best collegiate mark in the distance when he crossed the line in 33:09.18 for 16th overall and a new PR of 18 seconds. Williams was not far behind in 19th with a time of 33:41.06, which set a new PR by an amazing one minute and 11 seconds.
Joseph had a busy afternoon, as he set a new PR in the 100 Meter Dash with his 16th place time of 11.04. He also came in 18th in the 200 Meter Dash with his mark of 22.64. Castillo came in 19th in the event when he crossed the line in 22.85, which was also a collegiate best time for him.
In the 110 Meter Hurdles prelims, Carter qualified for Saturday's final, as he finished in 14.88.
Alex Theophilus was able to claim 17th in the Javelin Throw when his toss reached 41.68 meters and
Louis Kettelberger was right behind at 18th with his heave of 39.67 meters.
In the Hammer Throw,
Patrick Needham notched 17th place with his mark of 39.14 meters and
Harrison Schlossberg fouled out.
Ben Rudnick also competed in the Pole Vault and was unable to record a height.
