WILMINGTON, N.C.—Six members of the Colgate Track and Field team were in action Friday and Saturday at the Wendy's Seahawk Invitational at UNC Wilmington.
A contingent of throwers took to the Tar Heel state and put up strong numbers to open up the spring outdoor season.
Regine Cooper was the only Raider in action on both days and she got her spring started on a good note. The senior started her weekend Friday in the Hammer Throw and registered a sixth place finish when she able to muster up a toss of 38.42m.
Maya LaRosiliere also competed in the event and registered an 11th place finish after a mark of 30.79m.
Cooper completed her weekend Saturday in the Shot Put with another strong showing. She had the highest finish of the weekend with a third place throw of 11.92m.
Megan Maloney was also in action for the women and claimed a top-5 finish when she was fifth in the Javelin Throw after a mark of 31.56m.
On the men's side, a pair of competitors took part in the Javelin Throw.
Alex Theophilus got his spring started with a strong showing after a toss of 45.53m for a sixth place finish.
Greg Zeien was not too far behind in 16th place with a throw of 36.07m, which narrowly missed out on his collegiate best mark.
Patrick Needham also nearly set a new collegiate best in the Hammer Throw. He claimed a top-5 finish after he was fifth with a mark of 41.00m.
