Colgate Captures 2V8 Petite Win

Women’s Crew Making Strides in First Competition of Spring

Murphy Cup Results

COOPER RIVER, N.J. –
Colgate Women's Rowing hit the water for the first time in competition this spring at Saturday's 37th Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta and came away with a petite win in the Second Varsity Eight.

The Raiders also raced a Varsity 8+ and a Varsity 4+. Weather was a factor on the Cooper River, with crews raced in a challenging 22 mph tailwind.

The event was moved to New Jersey from the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia because of predicted water conditions.

"The team has made great strides in comparison to last year at this time," head coach Brittany Adell said. "Our day was highlighted by a petite final win in the 2V8. Both 8+'s were able to improve on the morning heats with better racing in the afternoon. The Varsity 4+ relied heavily on the leadership of junior Rayzel Rosner, who helped lead novice rowers through tough conditions in their first race.

"We continue to hope for good weather in Hamilton to help Lake Moraine thaw. We will build on the momentum from this weekend in our training and preparation to line up at Holy Cross in two weeks."

The Colgate's crews and results were as follows:
