SILVER PUCK AWARD
The longest standing hockey booster club in the nation, Colgate's Silver Puck Club was founded in 1958 and presents the Silver Puck Award to a person or persons whose continued support and contributions to the Colgate men's hockey program warrants special recognition and applause. The award is puck-size and silver-plated, weighing three pounds and inscribed with the recipient's name.

The 2019 recipient of the Silver Puck Award was announced as longtime radio broadcaster John McGraw. McGraw called play-by-play for the men's hockey program for 12 seasons, traveling to cover all away games in addition to the Raiders home slate.

McGraw provided radio coverage for the Raiders from 2007 through the 2018-19 campaign on 94 KXZ, calling games such as the 2014 NCAA Tournament run. McGraw's dedication to the program showed through his extensive hours at the rink and preparing background information for broadcasts, all the while facing the drive from Liverpool to Hamilton for each matchup.

GUEST SPEAKER PIERRE McGUIRE42254
In addition to the presentation of the 2019 Silver Puck Award, the banquet featured guest speaker Pierre McGuire. Most widely known for his "Inside the Glass" coverage for NHL on NBC, McGuire won a 1992 Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins. McGuire became the youngest head coach in the NHL at 32 for the Hartford Whalers in 1993, before working with the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins as a scout and assistant coach.

McGuire has been the Inside the Glass reporter for the NBC Olympics coverage of men's and women's hockey at the past four Winter Olympics, and won a 2013 Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality-Sports Reporter for his coverage of the IIHF World Junior Championships.

While the weekend featured an open skate and socials in addition to the banquet, the night was capped with the singing of the Colgate Alma Mater, led by the program's freshman class.
