ITHACA, N.Y./UTICA, N.Y.—Led by another victory in the Shot Put by
Regine Cooper, the Colgate Women's Track & Field reached new heights Saturday in the Kane Invitational in Ithaca and the Pioneer Open in Utica.
The senior claimed the top spot in the event when finished with a mark of 12.58m. She also competed in the Weight Throw, where she finished in sixth with a toss of 13.89m.
A pair of Raiders had PRs to continue the big day at Utica. Ellie Sacchi ran a collegiate best in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 8.66, which was good enough for 24th overall. And
Maya LaRosiliere's mark of 7.77m in the weight throw was a best for her, as she finished 50th overall.
Kira Palmer also competed for the Raiders in Utica with her effort in the Pole Vault.
In Ithaca, a majority of Colgate's competitors set new collegiate benchmarks.
Marina Reilly set a new personal record right away when she qualified for the 60 Meter Dash finals with a time of 8.24. She eventually finished 8th when she ran the finals in 8.25.
Isa Cunio and
Rachel Schaaf also ran the 60 Meter Dash with great personal success. Cunio had a PR with her time of 8.35, which was 10th overall. And Schaaf's time of 8.64 was 14th and was another collegiate best time.
The 200 Meter Dash was a strongpoint for the Raiders at Cornell, as another PR was claimed. Cunio paced Colgate at 12th overall with a quick time of 28.12, while
Zoe Zeltner set a personal best with her time of 31.16, which was 22nd.
Zeltner's strong day continued when she set another PR with a time of 3:18.19 in the 1000 Meter Run for an eighth place finish.
Denise Larson had a high finish, as she placed second in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 19:27.83, which was also a PR.
A pair of collegiate bests were also claimed in the 500 Meter Dash thanks to
Reagan Darrah and
Marie Nevils. The former finished fifth with her time of 1:24.55, while Nevils finished seventh with a mark of 1:26.89.
The PRs kept coming in the 400 Meter Dash when
Sarah Silverman had a time of 1:03.47, which was 12th overall. Not long after,
Sophia Manners added her name to the day's PR list when she finished the 800 Meter Run in 2:32.48 for a 15th place finish.
Danielle Zarnick also competed in the event with a 22nd place time of 2:47.16.
Multiple personal bests were also recorded in the One Mile Run, thanks to
Elizabeth Timoney and
Lexi Walsh.
Skyler Berardi paced the Raiders in the event with her seventh place finish of 5:27.06. Timoney's time of 5:36.17 was a new low for her and was 13th overall, while Walsh's mark of 5:36.47 was a new record and was just behind her teammate in 14th.
A pair of Raiders competed in the 3000 Meter Run, as
Vicky Martinez and
Hannah Gunther went to work. Martinez snuck in a top-10 time with her finish of 10:50.24 for tenth overall. And Gunther ran a time of 11:09.82, which was 16th.
Reilly and Schaaf completed their busy days in the Triple Jump. Both claimed top-5 finishes led by Reilly, who was third with a mark of 11.33m. Schaaf finished just behind with a leap of 11.29m.
Sarah Sampson also took part in the jumps, as she was seventh overall in the Long Jump with a final mark of 5.08m.
Darrah, Silverman, Timoney and Nevils also teamed up for a high finish in the 4x800 Meter Relay, as their time of 10:21.19 was third best.

"I like the direction we are going in," said Williams. "One of the personal bests came from Larson, which gives her three weeks in a row where she ran a personal best."
"We are looking good going into the back half of indoor," said Williams. "We are looking for some redemption on the women's side after indoor conference last year and we are setting ourselves up to do better."
