Patriot League Release
HAMILTON – Colgate's
James Holland Jr., continued his stranglehold on the Patriot League's weekly offensive honors with yet another Player of the Week certificate.
Â
The senior tailback rushed 20 times for 139 yards – a 7.0 average – and a season-high three touchdowns Saturday in Colgate's 48-6 thrashing of Lehigh. Holland for the season is up to 899 yards, or 99.9 per game.
Â
Over his last four games, Holland has rushed for 515 yards (128.8 per game) and scored seven touchdowns (one receiving).
Â
Holland now has four player of the week awards from the Patriot League and its voting panel of SIDs and media, and five weekly awards from College Sports Madness. He has captured one or the other honor after six of his nine games played.
Â
Colgate leads the Patriot League in rushing at 207.8 yards per game and in total offense at 377.1. The Raiders are also first in scoring at 31.9. Coupled with the nation's best defensive unit, Colgate is outscoring the opposition 67-0 in the first quarter and 195-9 for the first half.
Â
Saturday's victory at Lehigh wrapped up Colgate's sixth outright Patriot League championship and 10th overall.
Â
The Raiders, 9-0, are back in action Saturday at Army in a noon kickoff.

Polls Still Trending North
Colgate jumped two places to sixth in this week's AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and two spots to eighth in the STATS FCS media/SID ranking. Colgate remains one of three undefeated teams, joining defending national champion North Dakota State (10-0) and Princeton (9-0).
Â
Saturday's victory handed Colgate its 14th straight victory dating to last season. Only defending national champion North Dakota State with 16 owns a better current run. The Raiders also have won their last 11 Patriot League contests.
Â
The 14 straight is the best Colgate football winning streak since the 2002 and 2003 Raiders strung 21 in a row together. That 2003 squad went to 15-0 and all the way to the national championship game before falling to Delaware.
Â
Statistically Speaking
Colgate relinquished a touchdown Saturday for the first time in 70 days and 29 quarters when Lehigh scored on a 30-yard third-down pass play. Not since the fourth quarter of Colgate's Sept. 1 opener against Holy Cross had a team reached the Raider end zone.
Â
Nonetheless, Colgate remains atop the four major national defensive categories: rushing (56.7 yards per game), pass efficiency (82.33 rating), total (192.3 yards per game) and scoring (3.2 points per game).
Â
Colgate also leads the nation in red zone defense at 33.3 percent. Saturday, the Raiders were tested in the red zone for the first time the Oct. 13 Cornell game. Colgate turned Lehigh over on downs and the Raider red zone defense against touchdowns now stands 1-of-12.
