Head of the Charles Results

HAMILTON –
Colgate Women's Rowing completed a spotlight Saturday of racing at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.

Colgate finished 31st out of 54 boats in the Women's Club 4+ category. The Raiders battled a headwind to finish in 20:24.819, crossing ahead of such programs as Miami (Ohio), Wesleyan, Lehigh and Georgia Tech.

36035"The Head of the Charles is a prestigious race and we are honored to be a part of the event." Colgate head coach Brittany Adell said. "This weekend's racing gave us an opportunity to test our speed against other well-respected crews.

"Although it was not the result we were seeking, the team is excited to get back on Lake Moraine and seek increased boat speed."

As part of the Head of the Charles weekend, Colgate's Saturday night alumni gathering was a success. Among those on hand to support the Raiders was Olympic gold medalist Lauren Schmetterling '10. Schmetterling was part of a USA crew that placed third in the Women's Championship 8+ event Sunday.

"We had a great group of alumni and parents together," Adell said. "The current team connected with former rowers who told stories of rowing at Colgate in the late 1980s.

"We connected with many of our friends, family and alumni who came to cheer us on. The opportunity that HOCR provides to compete at a high level and connect with so many of our supporters is unmatched, and we are fortunate to be a part of the experience as a growing program."

The Raiders are back in action Saturday at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga.
