Krull Tallies Six Saves as Raiders Fall to Lehigh, 1-0

Colgate Field Hockey Honors Its Five Seniors with Senior Day Ceremonies Prior to Game

HAMILTON – The Colgate field hockey team wrapped up Patriot League play Saturday morning as the Raiders fell to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 1-0, at Tyler's Field.

Prior to the game, the Raiders honored their five-member senior class who have all been a significant part of the program over the past four years: Sarah DeMarco (Bernardsville, New Jersey), Molly Klare (Wilmette, Illinois), Cady Kopsky (St. Louis, Missouri), Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) and Caroline Schaefer (Avon, Connecticut).

Krull made six saves in goal for the Raiders to give her 529 in her career, pulling within three of her predecessor Amanda DiDomizio '16 for the fourth-most saves in program history.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half despite Colgate's 8-4 shot advantage and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Mountain Hawks struck first 11:51 into the second half as Drew Pecora tallied her fifth goal of the season. Jackie Renda passed the puck into Pecora in front of the circle where she just managed to swipe the ball past Krull for the lone goal.

Colgate had numerous scoring chances, but none better than with no time left on the clock when the Raiders were granted a penalty corner. Nicole Salamone (Cheshire, Connecticut) inserted the ball and Klare wound up for a shot but it was knocked away to end the corner and the game.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach April Cornell
"It was a really hard fought game, they never stopped competing the entire game. To draw a corner right there at the end of regulation shows how determined they were to keep fighting and to score a goal. I can't ask enough out of this team and the effort they put in."

"The seniors have left their mark on this program, their belief in what the future of this program is moving toward is far-beyond what I ever could have asked for. They were really the catalyst to keep the rest of this team motivated, they pushed us all season long to believe in the process and the progress we made throughout the season. I truly will miss them, it's my first senior class so they have a special place in my heart and I'm so blessed to have had the opportunity to coach them for this year."

"Tomorrow's going to be a lot of fun, it's going to be a fun game. The weather might be a little crazy and rainy but that's always good hockey weather. For us, there's nothing to hold back so we can try out a lot of different things and have fun with it. We're really excited to finish strong in this final game of the season."
