BOSTON, Mass. – Colgate fell at host Boston University on Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League doubleheader.
The Terriers recorded a 4-3 come-from-behind victory before taking the nightcap 6-3.
Three Raiders tallied two hits on the day in
Katie Bushee,
Tara Grennan and
Gillian Murray. Bushee added two runs and one RBI, while Grennan chipped in a run and Murray an RBI.
Colgate catcher
Mariel Schlaefer touched home plate twice in the twin bill and reeled in one Raider run from one hit as well.
The Raiders jumped out to the early 3-0 edge after a strong opening inning in game one. Boston U. tallied one run back in the second until a late-game rally in the seventh.
The Terriers recorded three big runs in the final half inning to steal the victory away from Colgate.
In the second game, the Raiders again took the advantage in the first inning this time a 1-0 lead following a solo shot from Schlaefer over the left field fence.
Unfortunately, the Terriers posted four runs in the bottom half to take over the edge at 4-1.
Colgate cut the lead in half during the top of the third after Bushee hit a massive home run to left center but two more runs from the hosts in the bottom half crated a four-run gap between the teams.
The Raiders scored their final run in the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Murray but it was too little too late as the Terriers secured the doubleheader sweep.
Boston U. now holds a 5-0 all-time series edge over the Raiders, having swept Colgate in the first ever meetings between the two teams just a year ago.
The Raiders and Terriers are back on the field Sunday for the final contest of this three-game league series. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

Straight From The Source•
Colgate head coach Melissa Finley: (on her thoughts from the day) "Today was a tough one for this team but I think we learned a lot. We are being hard on ourselves and having a tough time with short memories and staying in the present moment."
"The season can be grueling. It's a game of failure and it can pile up pretty quickly if you allow it to. I believe in this team and know how great they can be – they just have to allow themselves to be successful and the results will come."
