Raiders Return to USCHO.com Poll Monday

Colgate Returned to the National Polls Monday as the Raiders Were Ranked 18th in the Latest USCHO.com Listing

HAMILTON – Thanks to a five-game unbeaten streak to end the regular season, Colgate Men's Hockey returned to the national polls Monday as the Raiders were ranked 18th in the latest USCHO.com listing.

Head Coach Don Vaughan's squad completed its regular season slate with a pair of solid showings on the road during the final weekend of February. Colgate battled No. 12 Yale to a 2-2 tie on Feb. 27 before using a third-period rally to knock off Brown, 4-2, the following afternoon to earn the No. 4 seed for the ECAC Hockey Championship and a bye into the quarterfinal round.

The Raiders have been nationally ranked for a majority of the 2014-15 season, opening the year in the top 10 of both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/USA Today listings before ascending as high as No. 4 in each poll during a three-week stretch in late October and early November.

Bolstered by a return to the national rankings, Colgate will also begin the postseason in decent shape in the PairWise Rankings, holding the 18th spot on the list that ranks all 59 division I programs. The PWR compares all teams by the same criteria, using record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, and the RPI as a way to mimic the method used by the selection committee to determine participants for the NCAA tournament.

The Raiders return to action March 13-15 with a best-of-three ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinal round series at Starr Rink. Tickets are available by calling 315-228-7600 or by visiting Bleedcolgatemaroon.com.
