Colgate Hosts Cornell On Senior Day

Raiders Take on Big Red in Senior Day Dual Meet Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium

HAMILTON – Colgate Swimming and Diving hosted Ivy-League rival Cornell in a dual meet Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium.

The Big Red earned a sweep of the meet as the men recorded a 204-80 victory over the Raiders while the Cornell women turned in a 173-112 win over Colgate.

Hosting their final home meet of the 2014-15 season, the swimming and diving program honored senior student-athletes Tenley Barr, Haakon Breeke, Andrew Mazen, Chloe Russack, Meghan Shroyer and Sami Wary in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.

Men's Meet Highlights
- Dominic Wilkins captured the 200 Free, touching the wall at 1:45.29.
- Des Cairns placed second in the 100 Backstroke, finishing just 22 one-hundredths of a second off the pace of first-place finisher Victor Luo.
- Wilkins and Hacker gave the Raiders a 2-3 finish in the 500 Free as Wilkins took second (4:46.52) while Hacker placed third (4:52.81).
- It was a 1-2 finish for Colgate in 200 Individual Medley as Wilkins claimed first (2:04.59) while Mark Hilton took second (2:11.53).
- The Raiders took the top two spots in the 200 Free Relay. The pairing of Carter Christensen, Mel Philips, Milos Gak and Andrew Hacker placed first with a time of 1:30.44 while the quartet of Haakon Brekke, Paul Kersjes, Spencer Lambert and Andrew Mazen placed second (1:33.35).

Women's Meet Highlights
- The Raiders excelled during the relay portion of the meet, picking up wins in both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relay events.
- The pairing of Morgan Cohara, Cammie Kirby, Maggie Carney and Rosannah Petit opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley, posting a time of 1:49.81 to win the race by 35 hundredths of a second.
- It was a 1-2 finish for Colgate in the 200 Free relay as the quartet of Petit, Wary, Cohara and Lindsay Sagasta took first place with a time of 1:38.67 while the grouping of Madison Fitzgerald, Maggie Carney, Megan Gallagher and Sam Hynes placed second (1:47.05).
- Kirby claimed the 100 Breast competition, touching the wall at 1:07.88.
- Gallagher and Cohara made it a 1-2 result for the Raiders in the 500 Free. Gallagher took first (5:09.07) while Cohara was just a litte over a second of the pace of Gallagher to place second (5:10.17).
- Megan Shroyer captured the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:13.25. Talia Fishbein placed second for the Raiders with a pace of 2:33.60.

Up Next
Colgate closes out the regular season Jan. 31 when it travels to Boston for a tri-meet with Patriot League foe Boston University and Boston College.
