SCHNECTADY, N.Y. – Colgate continued its dominant performance over Union on Saturday when it defeated the Dutchwomen 4-1, behind two goals from junior Miriam Drubel, to increase the series record to 29-0-0.

"I really liked how desperate we played this weekend knowing that we had to come out of these two games with four points," Colgate head coach Greg Fargo said. "We played hard and smart today right until the end. It was great for our power play to get on the board in the game and our special teams have been really solid for us lately as has our goaltending."

The Raiders have now scored a total of nine goals against the Dutchwomen this season, sweeping the series after a 5-1 victory on Nov. 11 in Hamilton.

With the win, Colgate also completed another weekend sweep, for its second of the year. The Raiders took down Rensselaer on Friday night, 3-1, after Rachel Walsh and Jocelyn Simpson posted top performances.

Colgate (9-21-2, 6-14-0 ECAC) scored all four of its goals off of power play chances and saw Drubel net two of them. The junior kicked off the scoring with a marker in the first period, giving the Raiders the 1-0 advantage. Walsh made it 2-0 Colgate with a power play goal 9:25 into the second period before Katie Case netted her second of the year in the final frame.

The Dutchwomen tallied a goal late in the third period to end the Raiders' shutout hopes but another marker from Drubel on an empty net secured the Colgate victory.

"It was great to see the line of Drubel, Walsh and Simpson have another great game today," Fargo said. "They are playing the best hockey they've played all season."

The Raiders outshot the Dutchwomen 35-13, including reaching a game-high 14 shots in the first and third periods. Colgate went 44 percent on the power play converting four of its nine opportunities while holding Union to just 1-for-7 (14%)

Union (9-22-1, 4-16-0 ECAC) received its lone goal from Alex Tancrell-Fontaine, who recorded her second of the year. Christine Valente and Maddy Norton were awarded assists on the play. Shenae Lundberg notched 31 saves in the losing effort, while pushing aside a game-high 13 shots in the first period.

Walsh kicked off the first period with a great chance on net after the Dutchwomen took her down on a breakaway. The Raiders were given a penalty shot but were unable to find the net as Lundberg came up with the stop.

Colgate wouldn't be stopped for much longer, however, as Drubel finished off a rebounded shot from Simpson on the power play to give the Raiders the 1-0 advantage at the 12:31 mark.

Midway through the middle frame, Colgate would record its second goal with an extra skater when Walsh found the back of the net for her third goal in the last two games. Nicole Gass and Drubel teamed up to find Walsh with 10:35 to play in the second period.

The Raiders would create a three-goal margin between the teams midway through the final frame, after being awarded another power play following a Union hooking penalty. Just 14 seconds later Case fired one past Lundberg for the 3-0 Raider lead.

Four minutes later the Dutchwomen ended any Colgate shutout hopes when Tancrell-Fontaine tallied a goal. The junior wristed a shot past Colgate's netminder Ashlynne Rando on the power play.

The Dutchwomen, who were now within two-scores, pulled Lundberg to add an extra skater on the ice with less than two minutes to play.

The Colgate defense held strong, though, and after a Union tripping penalty Drubel picked up her second power play marker of the game on the empty net.

Rando posted 12 saves in the contest for her fifth win of the season.

The Raiders are back on home ice Friday when they welcome Princeton at 7 p.m. Colgate plays host to Quinnipiac the next day at 4 p.m. in a game that will acknowledge six senior players.
