Frostbite Results
MERCER, N.J. – Colgate's women's varsity eight finished a strong second over the weekend at the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta.
The Raiders missed by just more than two seconds of upsetting the same Drexel boat that finished second last year at the Dad Vail Regatta. This despite the fact that Colgate traveled to the competition on the morning of the race.
"I was extremely happy with our performance," Colgate head coach
Greg Kruczynski said. "We made it a day-trip, so we drove all morning, rigged the boats, raced and then drove home.
"We had a fantastic race with the Drexel first boat. It's basically the boat that took the silver medal at Dad Vails last year, and we were nowhere close to them last year. Being within half a boat-length of them at this time is phenomenal."
In the boat for Colgate were
Lauren Yeary (coxswain),
Susan Blick,
Dempsey Wartell, Sophie Pennoyer,
Katie Kelleher,
Abby Yosaitis,
Catherine Walsh,
Katharine Halle and
Susie Meyer.
The race concluded Colgate's fall women's rowing schedule. The crew's next competition is March 28 at the Murphy Cup.
