NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Colgate men's soccer team recorded its second draw of the season with a 0-0 tie at Yale on Friday night.

The Raiders (1-2-2) were able to get 12 shots with five coming on goal. Grant Reed got the start in net and made one save to earn the tie.

Yale (0-2-1) generated hardly any offensive with 10 shots and only one coming on net, but rang two shots off the post. Bobby Thalman kept the Bulldogs in the game with five saves.

The Bulldogs had a great chance right off the bat with a shot from Kevin Michalak that hit the post. The rebound then came to Peter Jacobson, who shot the ball just wide of the net. Right after the near miss, Yale was given a red card in the 10th minute and had to play the rest of the match down a man. The Raiders managed to fire three shots in the first half, but none of them found their way to the net.

The second half was more of the same as neither team generated much on the offensive end. Colgate had the better of the play with shots by Tanner Schilling and Nick Arpey. The two teams combined for 10 shots in regulation and only one was on goal.

The most activity in the box happened early in the first overtime with three saves by Thalman and one by Reed. Thalman pushed aside all three in the first six minutes of action. Yale had a great opportunity to win the game as Colgate gave the ball away and Max McKeirnan hit the cross bar on his chance to win the game. Colgate had its best chance come in the final seconds as Shane Conlin but a shot on net that Thalman saves and then Schilling followed up with a shot that was blocked as the horn sounded and the team's settled for a scoreless tie in 110 minutes of action.

Colgate will be back in action on Sunday as the Raiders travel to Darmouth for a 2 p.m. start.
