HAMILTON – A flurry of goals to start the second half proved too big a deficit Monday night as Colgate dropped a 6-0 decision to Syracuse at SU Soccer Stadium.
Colgate's third straight match against a Big East Conference opponent resulted in a second consecutive defeat, and this one was still a contest at the halftime break. Syracuse led 1-0 on Lars Muller's first goal of the season, coming in the 17th minute.
But it was all Orange after the intermission.
Ted Cribley scored less than 90 seconds into the second half, and he was followed by teammate Jordan Vale's strike in the 48th minute that made it 3-0. Tony Asante scored in the 51st minute, and then Vale found the net again just 34 seconds later – Vale's second of the night and third of the season.
Ben Ramin capped the scoring for Syracuse (3-1) in the 77th minute.
Shane Conlin,
Tyler Forbes and
Patrick Letourneau had shots on goal for the Raiders.
