LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Colgate men's soccer team was handed its first Patriot League loss Saturday afternoon after Bucknell scored early in the match giving them the 1-0 win.

Colgate (4-7-6) was led by Mike Garzi and Evan Heroux who both notched two shots in the game. Liam Stapleton made four saves throughout the match.

Bucknell (7-6-4) saw its lone goal from freshman Jesse Klug just five minutes in. Mike Lansing came up with three saves.

Before the game could really get underway the Bison grabbed the early lead off a breakaway by Klug. Brian Ward played a high long ball into the middle of the field, where Brendan Burgdorf played a header into Klug who was making a run. He took a few touched before shooting into the right side of the net past Stapleton for the 1-0 lead.

Colgate had a chance to equalize in the 27th minute after Garzi intercepted the ball at the top of the 18-yard box. He tried his luck at net by bending a shot into the upper left hand corner but Bisons goalie Lansing made the diving save.

Stapleton came up big for the Raider in the second half denying the Bison a few chances at net. Just three minutes into the second half Colgate conceded a foul 30 yards out, giving Bucknell a free kick. Klug struck the ball to the left side of the wall where Stapleton was able to push it away.

The sophomore came up huge again when he leaped up and took the ball away from Patrick Figgie to save another goal. In the final minutes of the match he made a brilliant save after he grabbed the ball off Klug's foot inside the box before he could get a shot off.

Colgate hosts Albany Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in a non-league game before heading down to Annapolis, Md. to face the Mids from Navy in their last regular season PL matchup at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
