Raiders Travel to #10/10 Dartmouth and #9/9 Harvard

The team will travel to #10/10 Dartmouth and #9/9 Harvard this weekend.

HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/19/12)
– The Colgate women's hockey team will face two ranked ECAC Hockey opponents on the road this weekend. The team will first play No. 10/10 Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 20 before traveling to No. 9/9 Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 21.
 
The Raiders are coming off a pair of league setbacks to Princeton and Quinnipiac last weekend. They dropped a 5-3 decision to the Tigers despite an impressive comeback in the third period, and then went on to fall to the Bobcats 4-1 on Saturday.
 
LEAGUE PLAY
Colgate (8-14-1, 3-8-1 ECAC Hockey) continues to sit in ninth place in the ECAC Hockey standings above Rensselaer, Union and Yale. The team has seven points from three wins over Yale, Princeton and Union, and a 1-1 overtime tie with Brown. On top of the standings tied for first are Cornell and Quinnipiac with 22 points apiece. The Big Red has an 11-1 conference record while the Bobcats are 10-4-2 in league play.
 
KLYNSTRA GIVES A HELPING HAND
Junior Jenna Klynstra had a hand in all four of the Raiders' goals last weekend. The forward first had an assist in each of the team's three goals against Princeton and then went on to add another helper in Colgate's lone goal against Quinnipiac. Klynstra now has 12 points from two goals and 10 assists.

RAIDERS' SCORING LEADERS
Junior Brittany Phillips leads the team with 25 points from 10 goals and 13 assists. She is now ninth in career points with 78 and tied for eighth with 38 career goals. The forward is followed by freshman Melissa Kueber and sophomore Jocelyn Simpson who both have 15 points apiece. Kueber has 10 goals and five assists while Simpson has six goals and nine helpers. 

SERIES
Harvard leads the all-time series against the Raiders 18-1-2 since the teams first met in the 2001-02 season. Colgate's two ties against the Crimson were in its first meeting of the series and in its first matchup of the 2008-09 season. The Raiders' only win was in the 2006-07 season when they defeated Harvard 3-1 at Starr Rink. This will be the second matchup this season, with the Crimson winning the first contest 2-0 on Nov. 11.
 
Dartmouth also leads the all-time series against Colgate, owning a 26-5-2 record since they first met in the 2001-02 season. The Raiders' most recent wins were a 6-4 win in the 2009-10 season and a 7-6 overtime victory in the 2008-09 season during the ECACHL Quarterfinals, both on the road. The Big Green won the most recent meeting this season 2-0 on Nov. 12.
 
SCOUTING #10/10 DARTMOUTH
The Big Green (11-5-2, 7-3-2 ECAC Hockey) is coming off a pair of wins over Rensselaer and Union. The team, which was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll, is currently fifth in the league standings with 16 points from seven wins and two ties. Its only conference losses this season were to St. Lawrence, Clarkson and Harvard.
 
Dartmouth is led by ECAC Hockey Player of the Week junior Camille Dumais and seniors Kelly Foley and Reagan Fischer. Dumais has a team-best 22 points from nine goals and 13 assists. She is followed by Foley who has 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points while Fischer has six goals and nine assists for 15 points. Defending the net is sophomore Lindsay Holdcroft who has an 8-4-2 record, a 2.06 goals against average and a total of 333 saves for a .920 save percentage.
 
SCOUTING #9/9 HARVARD
The Crimson (11-5-1, 8-3-1 ECAC Hockey), which was picked to finish second in the preseason poll, is coming off a pair of league wins over Union and Rensselaer last weekend. The team is currently sitting at third in the league standings with 17 points from eight wins and one tie. Its only three conference losses were to Princeton, Dartmouth and Cornell.
 
Harvard is led by junior Jillian Dempsey and sophomore Lyndsey Fry. Dempsey has 22 points from 11 goals and 11 assists while Fry has 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points. They are followed by sophomores Marissa Gedman and Gina McDonald who both have 14 points apiece, and by ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week Hillary Crow who has 12 points. In goal, the team is led by junior Laura Bellamy who has an 11-5-1 record, a 2.05 goals against average and a total of 380 saves for a .916 save percentage.
  
ECAC PRESEASON POLL
The Colgate women's ice hockey team was picked to finish ninth in the 2011-12 ECAC Hockey Preseason Poll that was released on Sept. 15. The Raiders received 41 points for ninth place above Yale, Brown and Union. Two-time defending regular-season and tournament champion Cornell was picked to finish first with 121 votes and 11 first-place votes.
