Raider Chat with Alyssa Manoogian

Junior Alyssa Manoogian
HAMILTON, N.Y. (8/17/11) - As junior Colgate women's soccer player, Alyssa Manoogian, prepares for the 2011 season, she took time out of her busy practice schedule to answer a series of questions that will help fans and the Colgate family get to know her better.

Manoogian played and started in all 19 games in 2010 and finished the season tied at first on the team with 13 points from four goals and five assists. She led the team in assists, game-winning goals (3) and was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

On what made her play soccer and when she started … “I started playing soccer when I was four years old and at the time I think I just played because it was the thing to do. However, I stuck with it because I liked the fact that I could always get better at soccer. I could never settle for good because I knew there was always someone better than me to reach for. I liked the idea of knowing there was always a new level to reach.”

On what sport she would play if she was not playing soccer … “If I was not playing soccer, and if I was four inches taller, I would definitely be playing basketball. I played in high school and absolutely loved it. I always had the most fun playing basketball even more than soccer because there wasn't as much pressure. “

On what she did this summer … “I didn't have an exciting summer. I played soccer and kind of just laid low. I did some traveling with family and teammate Jillian Kinter as well.”

On the one thing that people would be surprised to know about her … “People would probably be surprised to know that I initially hated soccer, like absolutely hated it. This would probably be surprising to a lot of my teammates because they know how intense I am and can be when it comes to soccer now.”

On who the funniest person on her team is … “For the funniest on the team I'd probably have to go with a toss up between Jillian Kinter and Kelsey Hough. Although, I think my sister Emily Manoogian could give them a run for their money as well.”

On what reality TV show she would want to star in
… “I would actually like to create my own reality show and call it "Keeping Up With the Manoogian's". If that didn't work out, then probably one of the MTV Challenge shows because I'm really competitive and love to win.”

On what cartoon character she thinks most resembles her and why
… “I'm not really a fan of cartoons so I don't think I can answer this question that well, but I'm sure if you asked any of my teammates they could probably come up with something to embarrass me.”

On what actress she would cast to play her in a movie and what kind of movie would it be
… “I think I would like Emma Stone to play me in a movie because I think she is absolutely hilarious and I love her sarcasm and dry sense of humor because that's kind of how I am, so it would definitely have to be a comedy.”

On who her all-time favorite Colgate athlete (past or present)
… “I think my favorite Colgate athlete would be Jillian Arnault '10. She graduated my freshman year so I only got to play one year with her, but she always inspired me to be better and to work harder than I thought that I could. She pushed through her whole career with injuries but they never seemed to slow her down and that is something that I am dealing with as well so I definitely looked to her for inspiration and guidance when things got tough and she was always so strong.”
