HAMILTON, N.Y. (8/10/11) – Colgate football legend
Kenny Gamble '88 returned to campus on Wednesday to meet with the first-year football students and share with them what it means to be a Raider.
“I got to meet with the first years again for the second year in a row and it was great,” stated Gamble. “It is always wonderful to relay some of the experiences I had here as a student-athlete with the incoming class.”
Gamble, a 1988 graduate of Colgate University and a College Football Hall of Fame inductee is one of the most decorated and storied athletes to ever come through Colgate. Gamble was a two time all-American selection, and the recipient of the first ever Walter Payton Award in 1987, which is given to the best player in all of Division I-AA. That same year, Gamble finished first and second respectively in all-purpose yards (2,097) and rushing yards (1,411).
Gamble ran for 100 yards or more in 29 of the 42 games he played, which still stands as a Colgate record. As a junior, his 1,816 rushing yards led the entire nation, and his 21 rushing touchdowns and 2,425 all purpose yards set NCAA Division I-AA records.
Today, Gamble is Vice President and General Manager in the Sports Licensed Division of Reebok.
