HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/12/11)
– Colgate freshman Rachel LeCoq recorded her 17th win of the season as the Raiders topped Army 3-2 on Thursday, in the second game of the 2011 Patriot League Tournament at Eaton Street Field.

LeCoq, the 2011 Patriot League Pitcher of the Year, threw her 16th complete game of the season by going seven innings allowing three hits and two unearned runs while striking out six.

Colgate (26-19, 16-3) scored first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second off a two-out single by Haley Fleming. With the bases loaded, Fleming hit a sharp ground ball to the shortstop that tried to get the lead runner out a second, but the second baseman dropped the ball allowing both Lacy Ver Steeg and Natalie Siedhof to cross the plate.

Army (27-24, 9-11) responded with two runs in the top of the third off two Colgate errors to tie the game. The Black Knights loaded the basses with no outs after a walk an error and a hit batter, but LeCoq was able to force a popup to second, before the Raiders committed their second error of the inning which allowed two to cross the plate. Army tried to send a third runner home but was thrown out by Nicole Siedhof.

The Raiders took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Haley Pypes threw three wild pitches to advance Jennifer Ortega all the way around the bases. Ortega walked to lead-off the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch after Tera Vaughn popped up to the shortstop. Ortega then made it to third on the second wild pitch, but Siedhof couldn't bring her home as she grounded out to second. Ortega completed her trip around the bases after Pypes threw her third wild pitch of the inning and then didn't make the catch at home to tag Ortega as she slid in safe to give Colgate a 3-2 lead.

LeCoq then finished game by striking out three of the next six hitters she faced to improve to 17-7 on the season. The Raiders will face No. 2 Lehigh tomorrow (Friday, May 13) at noon. The Mountain Hawks topped No.3 Holy Cross 6-4 in the first game to advance in the winners bracket. All three games tomorrow can be seen live on Patriot League All-Access.
