Setting the Scene
Colgate is back in the Patriot League tournament for the first time since 2022. The second-seeded Raiders will face off against third-seeded Army in the opening round Thursday at 2:30 p.m. In a series that saw two games go to extra innings, Colgate took two out of three against the Black Knights April 3-4 in Hamilton. Tealla Rivera had the big shot, a walk-off two-run homer to clinch the series with a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Army salvaged the final game of the series, 10-8, in eight innings. The Raiders blasted Army in the opener, 9-1, in five innings.
All-League Raiders
Taveras became Colgate's third Patriot League Rookie of the Year in the last six seasons. She garnered All-League Second Team honors with first-year pitcher
Kelcie McGraw, while junior
Nora Megenity, first-year
Kayla Martin, and sophomore
Lily Haluska landed First Team laurels.
Colgate's five All-Patriot League honorees are the program's most in 15 years. With 27 victories, this year's squad has matched the 2011 team for the most wins in two decades. Additionally, the Raiders' 13-5 conference record marks their highest win total in Patriot League play since 2011, when the program claimed the regular-season title.
Mighty Mashers
Colgate's offense has made headlines all season long, breaking essentially every offensive single-season record in the book. The Raiders set a Patriot League record for home runs in a season (41) through just 29 games. They now have 83 long balls on the season, good for 15th nationally and 13th in home runs per game (1.62). Colgate has five players with at least 10 home runs, led by Nora Megenity, who keeps adding on to her program-record total and enters the tournament with 21 bombs. Marina Taveras and Lily Haluska each have 14 homers. Haluska shattered the program's single-season RBIs record and leads the team with 53 on the season.
Megenity All-Around
Junior outfielder Nora Megenity has provided consistent power at the top of Colgate's lineup. She leads the team with a .399 batting average, .821 slugging clip, and .453 on-base mark. Out of the leadoff spot, Megenity has collected 69 hits including 10 doubles and 21 homers, 44 RBIs, and 142 total bases. A threat on the base paths as well, Megenity leads the team with eight stolen bases, coming into postseason play 8-for-9 on the year. Defensively, she's made just three errors all season in center field and has four assists.
First-Year Phenoms
First-year phenoms Marina Taveras and Kayla Martin have combined to win seven Patriot League Rookie of the Week nods. Taveras leads all Patriot League first-years with four weekly honors, while she and Martin have won four of the last five Rookie accolades heading into the postseason. Taveras has already shattered first-year records in runs scored, RBIs, home runs, and total bases. Martin is tied for the first-year record in doubles (15). The duo have anchored the middle of Colgate's lineup, combining for 109 hits, 25 doubles, 24 homers, and 86 RBIs.
Kelcie Ks
Kelcie McGraw, first-year pitcher, has emerged as one of Colgate's top options in the circle. She leads the team with 14 wins on the season and enters the tournament with a 4.03 earned run average. McGraw has 11 complete games, three shutouts, and three saves in 132.0 innings pitched. She has struck out at least five batters in each of her last three starts, including nine in a complete game victory against Lafayette (4/24). McGraw struck out a career-best 11 batters and pitched all 10 innings in the walk-off victory against Army on April 4.
Seniors in the Circle
Colgate's two seniors on this year's roster, Maya Servedio and Alexa Acker, have anchored the circle during their four-year careers in Hamilton. Maya Servedio sports a 4.35 ERA this season with a 7-2 record. In 28 appearances including 13 starts, Servedio has 89 strikeouts with four complete games, a shutout, and a save in 99 innings pitched. Acker enters the postseason with a 5.25 ERA and four complete-game efforts in 90.2 innings this season.
