HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/1/11)
– Colgate pitcher Rachel LeCoq recorded her 16th win of the season as the Raiders split with Lafayette on Sunday during Senior Day. Colgate won the first game 12-3, before dropping the nightcap 4-3 at Eaton Street Field. Colgate finished first in the Patriot League with a 16-3 record, the best record ever recorded by the Raiders.

In the first game, Colgate (25-19, 16-3) exploded for six runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie to give LeCoq her ninth win in league play. Natalie Siedhof led off the inning with her fourth home run of the season to make the score 4-3 and was followed by a pair of back-to-back doubles by Jennifer Martin and Haley Fleming to make the score 6-3. The Raiders were then successful with a squeeze play as Jennifer Ortega laid down the perfect bunt to bring home Fleming from third. Ortega then crossed the plate after Tera Vaughn tripled down the right field line to make the score 8-3. Stephanie Hartquist finished the scoring with a double to right center that brought home Vaughn to give the Raiders a 9-3 lead. Colgate would add three more in the top of the seventh to make the final score 12-3. LeCoq threw five strong innings giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Junior Michelle Hollebeke came on in relief to throw two scoreless innings while giving up one hit.

In the nightcap, Lafayette (8-39, 5-15) broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning after Stacey Kushner hit a two–run homer with two outs to give the Leopards a 4-2 lead. The Raiders tried to answer back in the top of the seventh as Hartquist hit her seventh homer of the season, but it wasn't enough as Colgate suffered only its second set back at home this season.

Courtney O'Connell pitched six innings giving up five hits and two earned runs, while Hartquist finished the day hitting 5-for-8 with one home run and three RBI. Ortega also went 3-for-9 with four RBI, while Vaughn went 2-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.
