ALBANY, N.Y. (4/6/11)
– Senior Nicole Siedhof blasted two homeruns and drove in three RBI as the Colgate softball team took game one of a twinbill against Albany 7-1 on Wednesday. The Raiders dropped the nightcap 8-0 in five innings.

Siedhof finished the first game 2-for-4 with two homers, two runs scored and three RBI, while Jennifer Ortega and freshman Tera Vaughn drove in two runs apiece.

Colgate (13-12, 4-0) came out swinging in the first inning as Alana Dyson led off with a walk and then scored off a two-run homer by Ortega to give the Raiders the early lead. Colgate would then add to its lead in the third inning. Dyson led off with a single to centerfield, and then stole second. Ortega walked and teamed up with Dyson for a double steal to put runners on second and third with no outs. Vaughn then hit a sharp double to bring both runners home. Siedhof followed Vaughn's double with her first homer of the game to make the score 6-0.

Albany (10-17) would score its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the third off a triple by Adrianna Walraven that brought home Diane MacDowell. But the Raiders would answer back with a run in the fifth inning as Siedhof nailed her fourth homer in three games to make the final score 7-1. Siedhof has now hit 14 career homeruns which ranks sixth all-time at Colgate.

Patriot League Rookie of the Week Rachel LeCoq started in the circle for Colgate and pitched five innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out five Danes to record her ninth win of the season. The five strikeouts give LeCoq 82 on the season which is a new Colgate freshman record and ranks 12th all-time.

In the second game, Albany was led by Brittany MacFawn, who threw a five-inning no hitter with nine strikeouts to split the double-header. The Great Danes scored one run in the first inning, before exploding for seven in the third to take the nightcap 8-0.

Colgate will be back in action this weekend for the home opener against Patriot League foe Bucknell. The first game is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Eaton Street Field.
