Game One

Game Two

WEST POINT, N.Y. (4/3/11)
– Senior Nicole Siedhof blasted two homeruns and drove in three RBI to help lead the Colgate softball team to a weekend sweep of Army on Sunday. The Raiders opened the day with a 5-3 win and finished with a 7-4 topping.

In the first game, Colgate (12-11, 4-0) came back from a three run deficit with five runs in the final three innings including a two run homer by Siedhof to grab its third-straight win.

Army (14-14, 0-4) scored all three of its runs unearned in the third inning by taking advantage of two Colgate errors. The Raiders responded with two runs in the fourth inning off a two out single by Natalie Siedhof followed by a wild pitch to make the score 3-2. Colgate then added two more in the fifth inning thanks to Siedhof's homer to give the Raiders a 4-3 lead. Colgate then added an insurance run in the sixth inning off a triple by Alana Dyson to bring home Lacy Ver Steeg. Dyson's triple was her third this season and seventh of her career which is tied for seventh all-time at Colgate.

In the circle, freshman Rachel LeCoq pitched her ninth complete game of the season to pickup her eighth win. She gave up six hits, no earned runs and struck out nine. LeCoq has not allowed an earned run for 16 consecutive innings pitched.

In the second game, the Raiders jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and added a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to complete the sweep. Army was able to trim Colgate's lead to 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning, but back-to-back homers by Siedhof and Stephanie Hartquist in the bottom half seemed to seal the win.

Courtney O'Connell pitched seven strong innings allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out four to claim her fourth win of the season. Dyson finished day the hitting 4-for-7 with one double, one triple, a run scored and two RBI.

Colgate only surrendered one earned run all weekend and has started 4-0 in Patriot League play for the first time since the 2007 season. The series sweep of Army is the also first for the Raiders since 2007.

Colgate will be back in action on Wednesday, April 6 at Albany for a double header. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Albany Field.
