Game #1
Game #2
FORT MYERS, Fla. (3/5/11) –Freshman
Rachel LeCoq recorded her second complete game as the Colgate Softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Steven Industries FGCU Tournament. The Raiders won the first game against St. John's 2-1, before falling to the host Florida Gulf Coast 4-1 in the second game.
In the first game, Colgate (2-2) only recorded three hits but took advantage of nine walks to record its first win over the Johnnies since 1985. The Raiders loaded the bases in the second inning after three walks and took the lead on a single by
Tera Vaughn that scored LeCoq from third.
Colgate crossed the plate again in the third inning thanks to some wild pitching. St. John's walked three Raiders for the second-straight inning to load the bases, but this time Colgate didn't need a hit to score as LeCoq was hit by a pitch to make the score 2-0.
The score stayed the same until the Johnnies recorded three-straight two out hits in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 2-1. LeCoq made the final hitter fly out to right field to record her second win in as many starts.
In game two, FGCU scored three runs in the first inning and added another in the fourth to defeat the Raiders 4-1. Colgate scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jennifer Ortega led off with a double and was driven in by single from Nicole Siedhof. With the run Ortega moved to ninth all-time at Colgate in career runs scored with 79.
Courtney O'Connell pitched a complete game for the Raiders giving up seven hits and three earned runs.
The Raiders will conclude the Stevens Industries Tournament on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. against Dartmouth.
