HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/31/11) – The Colgate men's lacrosse team returns to action this weekend when it hosts No. 9/9 Army in a Patriot League matchup on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports.
Colgate (6-3, 2-0 PL) is coming off a 5-4 win over Navy on Saturday, handing the Mids their second loss at home since they joined the Patriot League in 2004. The Raiders are the only team to have beaten Navy at home and have done it on two occasions, the first being in 2009. Sophomore

NAGLE MAKES MARK IN PROGRAM HISTORY
Head coach Jim Nagle is now ranked first in program history for most wins by a Colgate men's lacrosse coach. The win against Navy last weekend gave him his 81st win which is one more than Harvey Potter (1955-65). Nagle now sports an 81-62 record and is 146-101 in his career as a head coach.
TEAM LEADERS
Colgate has 18 players with at least one point this season, 13 of which have three or more points. Baum, who has recorded a point in every game this season and leads the league in goals per game (2.78), leads the team in scoring with 31 points from 25 goals and six assists. He is 4th in the nation in goals per game and 15th in points per game with 3.44. Baum is followed by senior co-captain
Andrew Mould who has 13 goals and one assist for 14 points. Senior co-captain
Rob Bosco and classmate McCabe are tied at third with 10 points. Bosco has four goals and six assists and McCabe has eight goals and two assists.
RAIDERS' STATS
Colgate is currently tied at first with No. 17/18 Bucknell and No. 9/9 Army in the league standings. All three teams have a 2-0 league record. The results of this weekend's game will help determine where the teams stand going into the final stretch of regular-season play.
The Raiders lead the league in penalty-killing percentage (.788) and are second in goals against average (7.22) and in save percentage (.564). The team is 11th in the nation in man-down defense (.788), 9th in scoring defense (7.22) and 18th in win percentage (.667).
THE SERIES
Army leads the all-time series 26-5 since the teams first met in 1923. Colgate has a 3-13 home record against the Black Knights, with its three wins coming in 2003, 2007 and in double-overtime in 2009. Army won the last meeting 11-10 in overtime in West Point, N.Y.
SCOUTING NO. 9/9 ARMY
The Black Knights (7-2, 2-0 PL) are coming off a 7-6 win over Lafayette and a 12-9 win over Lehigh last week. The team, which was picked to finish first in the league's preseason poll as the defending champion, also has wins against VMI, No. 6/5 Cornell, Bryant, Wagner and Rutgers. Its only losses this season were to No. 16/17 UMass and No. 2/1 Syracuse.
Army is led by Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Preseason Offensive Player of the Year senior Jeremy Boltus as well as sophomore Garrett Thul. Boltus, who leads the country in assists per game (3.00) and is ranked 2nd in the nation in points per game (4.89), has a team-high 44 points from 17 goals and 27 assists. He is followed by Thul who has a team-best 22 goals and one assist for 23 points and is second in the league in goals per game (2.44). At defense, the team also sports senior Bill Henderson who was the league's preseason defensive player of the year, junior Tim Henderson who is the league's defensive player of the week and senior Tom Palesky who is goalkeeper of the week and is ranked 8th in the country in save percentage (.604) and is 9th in goals against average (6.84).
PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
Colgate was selected to finish fourth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll that was released on Jan. 26. Defending champion, Army, was picked to finish first with 78 points and 12 first-place votes. Following the Black Knights was last season's runner-up, Navy, with 58 points and one first-place vote and Bucknell with 51 points and one first-place vote as well. The Raiders rounded out the top four with 39 points, while Lehigh (31), Lafayette (30) and Holy Cross (13) had the final three spots. Army seniors Jeremy Boltus and Bill Henderson were selected as the Patriot League Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
