Game One vs. St. Peter's
Game Two vs. Rider
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/19/11) – The Colgate Softball team swept its final two games of the Rebel Spring Games on Saturday. The Raiders beat St. Peter's 11-0 in five innings and then topped Rider 6-1 in the second game.
In the first game, Colgate (8-9) scored two or more runs in every inning and
Courtney O'Connell only allowed one hit in her five innings of service to lead the Raiders to their second straight win over St. Peter's.
Natalie Siedhof and
Emmie Dolfi drove in three runs apiece, while
Tera Vaughn and
Jennifer Ortega each added two. Both of Ortega's RBI's came in the third inning off a two run homer to right field. The homerun was the second this season for Ortega and 18th of her career which ranks fifth all-time at Colgate. Ortega also moved up to eighth in career RBI with 75 and seventh in runs scored with 83.
In game two, the Raiders took advantage of a fielding error in the first inning and recorded three consecutive hits with two outs to take an early 2-0 lead. Rider would answer with a run of its own in the bottom half on the inning, but that would be all the Broncs would get as
Rachel LeCoq held them scoreless for then next six innings to earn her sixth win of the season.
LeCoq finished her sixth complete game of the season with a career-high 12 strikeouts, while allowing only four hits and one earned run. Nicole Siedhof went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double, and one run scored, while Vaughn finished 2-for-5 to extend her hitting streak to six games.
Colgate will be back in action on Saturday, March 26 at the Delaware State Sean Savage Memorial Tournament in Dover, Del. The Raiders will face Albany at 10 a.m. followed by Morgan State at 12 p.m.
