– Freshman Rachel LeCoq pitched another gem to help the Colgate Softball team split a pair of games Tuesday at the Stetson Hatter Roundup. The Raiders lost the first game to Iowa 4-0, before topping Stetson 2-1 in eight innings.

In the first game, Iowa (14-10) scored three runs in the fourth inning and added another in the sixth to hand the Raiders their third straight setback. Colgate had an opportunity in the final two innings to cross the plate, but stranded four runners.

In the sixth inning Natalie Siedhof led off for the Raiders with single to the shortstop and advanced to second on a throwing error. Jennifer Martin then walked to place runners on first and second with no outs, before the Hawkeye's were able to put down the next three hitters.

In the seventh inning Nicole Siedhof singled to right field and was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tera Vaughn. Stephanie Hartquist then reached on a fielding error to place runners on first and third with one out. Hartquist then stole second to put two Raiders in scoring position, before the next two hitters were put down to finish the game.

Courtney O'Connell started the game for Colgate and pitched five innings allowing five hits and two earned runs.

In game two, LeCoq pitched eight strong innings allowing one run while striking out eight Hatters to claim her fourth win of the season. The Raiders scored one run in the fifth inning and added another in the top of the eighth to win for the second time in extra innings.

Martin drove in the first run for Colgate with a single down the left field line to bring home Hartquist from third. Vaughn then brought home Alana Dyson for the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Stetson (14-13) was able to tie the game in the sixth inning after a two out double by Alyssa Oddo scored Chelsea Whalley from second.

Colgate will be back in action on Wednesday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. The Raiders will face Manhattan at 1 p.m. followed by Green Bay at 5 p.m.
