ITHACA, N.Y. (3/12/11) – The Colgate women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped last night in a 7-0 loss to Cornell.
Cornell swept all three doubles matches convincingly to earn the doubles point. The Big Red won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by an 8-2 score and then beat the Raiders in the second position at 8-3.
In singles,
Alex Petrini forced a super breaker at the top spot. She dropped the first set by a 6-2 score, but fired back to win the second at 6-4. She then fell in the super breaker by a 10-2 score. Cornell didn't drop a set the rest of the match and swept all matchups from two to six.
Colgate will be back in action on spring break in Orlando for three matches, starting with Liberty on March 14.
