Thanks to two individual titles, the Colgate women's swimming and diving team is leading after the first day of Patriot League Championships with 198 points.

Navy is currently in second place with 171 points and Bucknell is in third with 147 points.

Colgate, who dominated the preliminaries for the 500-yard freestyle, continued to swim past the competition in the finals. The Raiders had four of the top-eight that made the final and swept the top three positions in the finals. Erica Derlath swam brilliantly and beat her teammates by over a second to win her second individual crown of her career with a time of 4:49.46.

Caren Guyett was a close second after having the best time in the preliminaries. She just beat out Claire Hunter for second at 4:50.92, while Hunter ended up third at 4:51.24. Melanie Lockard also came through for Colgate and place fifth in the race at 4:53.53.

Erin McGraw added to Colgate's point total by earning the 200-yard individual medley title with a time of 2:01.52, which was just under a second from her personal best. Rebecca Murray, who swam the event for the first time in her career placed second in the consolation final with a time of 2:06.99.

The 50-yard freestyle turned out to be not so lucky for the Raiders, but Emily Kelly finished fifth at 23.61 seconds, while Hannah Fitton place seventh at 23.81 seconds.

Colgate placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Hunter, McGraw, Kelly and Guyett finished with a time of 1:33.99, which shaved five seconds off their prelim time.

The second day of the three-day championships begins at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
