Men's Basketball Hosts St. Francis (NY) Saturday

The Colgate University men's basketball team will play host to St. Francis (NY) on Saturday, Dec. 10. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be streamed live by GateTV on Colgate All-Access.

THE SERIES WITH ST. FRANCIS (NY)
This will be the fifth meeting between Colgate and St. Francis (NY) with the Terriers leading the all-time series 4-0. St. Francis (NY) won last season 68-57 in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. The Terriers won their last visit to Hamilton on a buzzer beater 66-65 during the 2009-10 season.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Pat Moore scored in double-figures for the sixth-straight game, but it wasn't enough as the Colgate men's basketball team fell to Albany 87-63 Wednesday night at SEFCU Arena. Moore finished the game with a team-high 18 points, while junior Mitch Rolls scored 16 and senior Yaw Gyawu returned to the lineup with a season-high 14.

Albany (5-4) was led by Gerardo Suero who scored a game-high 29 points on 11-14 shooting, while Mike Black and Logan Aronhalt scored 16 apiece. The Great Danes shot an amazing 65.5 percent from the field and forced 14 Colgate turnovers, while the Raiders shot 43.9 percent and won the rebound battle 30-28.

SCOUTING ST. FRANCIS (NY) (2-5)
The Terriers dropped a 90-50 decision against Wagner, in a Northeast Conference contest on Saturday evening at the Spiro Sports Center.  The Terriers were led by sophomore guards Ben Mockford and Brent Jones with nine points apiece, while freshman Kevin Douglas added seven points and eight rebounds.

The Terriers shot a season-low 31 percent overall (14-of-45) and 30 percent (4-for-13) from behind the arc.  Wagner shot a blazing 56.1 percent (32-for-57) and went  5-of-14 (35.7 percent) from three-point territory.
Wagner also outrebounded the Terriers by a 44-29 margin and forced a game-high 21 turnovers.

The Terriers trailed 36-27 at halftime but the hosts outscored St. Francis by a 19-4 margin over the first 4:55 of the second half to extend their lead to 55-31 with 15:05 remaining.

HEAD OF THE CLASS
Colgate has two players that rank first in the Patriot League in free throw and three point shooting percentage in Mike Venezia and Mitch Rolls. Venezia is shooting 95.7 percent from the free throw line, while Rolls is making 53.3 percent of the three-pointers he takes. Venezia has only missed one free throw all season (22-23), while Rolls has made 16 of the 30 three-pointers he's attempted. Pat Moore also ranks third in three-point percentage making 50 percent of his attempts (16-32).

13 OR MOORE
Sophomore Pat Moore is currently riding a six-game double-digit scoring streak that has seen him score no less than 13 points in a game since playing at Wisconsin. Over the six games Moore has averaged 15.0 points per game and now leads the team in scoring with 12.4 per game, which ranks 13th overall in the Patriot League.

1,000 POINTS AND COUNTING
Last season, senior forward Yaw Gyawu became the 28th player in school history to join the 1,000-point club. Gyawu currently has 1,127 points which ranks 23rd, only three points behind Rich Lebel (1,130) for 22nd overall.

VENEZIA KEEPS RAINING THREES  
Colgate senior Mike Venezia has made a total of 158 three-pointers in his career which ranks seventh all-time in the Colgate record books. Former teammate Kyle Roemer '10 holds the school record (267), while director of basketball operations Mark Linebaugh '04 ranks fifth with 173.

Colgate will play host to Dartmouth on Monday, Dec. 19. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be streamed live by GateTV on Colgate All-Access.
