HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/27/10) –Colgate senior wide receiver
Pat Simonds (Sidney, N.Y.) officially signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League on Monday, April 26.
During this past season, Simonds was named to the Sports Network All-American Team and the College Sporting News Fabulous Fifty All-Star team. Simonds also played in the 85th East-West Shrine Game.
Simonds finished the 2009 season with 66 catches for 1,012 yards and 14 touchdowns. His touchdown mark broke the previous record held by Tom Stenglein, who caught 13 touchdowns in 1985. Simonds is also the third wide receiver in school history to have consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Corey Hill (1997-1998) and Luke Graham (2002-2003) pulled off that feat as well. Simonds finished fourth in both career receptions and receiving yardage in the Colgate record books, and earned first team All-Patriot League honors in 2009.
