Men's Lacrosse Release #7: Raiders Travel to Army

The Colgate University men's lacrosse team will travel to Army on Saturday (April 3). The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., at Michie Stadium.

ARMY SERIES NOTES
The Raiders and Black Knights are facing-off for the 31st time with Army leading the all-time series 25-5. Colgate won last season 10-9 in Hamilton.  

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (1-7, 0-2)
The Raiders fell to 1-7 overall 0-2 in Patriot League play following 10-9 overtime loss to Navy on Saturday. Ben McCabe and Peter Baum lead Colgate up front. McCabe has 20 points off 16 goals and four assists, while Baum, the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, has 17 goals. Patrick Campbell leads the team with seven assists, while Michael Crown headlines the defense with three points, 28 groundballs and 11 forced turnovers. Jared Madison and Tim Harrington have split time between the pipes with Madison leading the way with a 9.20 GAA and .554 save percentage, while Harrington has a 9.81 GAA.
  
SCOUTING ARMY (3-5, 1-0)
The Black Knights fell to 3-5 on the season, after a 17-2 setback to No. 8 Hofstra. Jeremy Boltus leads Army with 33 points off 13 goals and 20 assists, and is followed by Garrett Thul who has a team high 18 goals. Tom Palesky has started every game between the pipes this season with a 9.62 GAA and .537 save percentage.
 
TOP BOSS
Colgate University head coach Jim Nagle is in his ninth season at the helm of the Colgate lacrosse program. He sports a 73-56 record and is 138-94 in his 14 seasons as a head coach. His 73 victories and .584 win percentage are the second most by a Colgate men's lacrosse coach. Harvey Potter has the most wins with 80 victories, while Michael Toop (1988-91) has the best win percentage at .708 (34-14). Nagle has guided Colgate to its first Patriot League Tournament Championship, its highest national ranking, and a 14-4 record in Patriot League play over the past three seasons. The Raiders posted three straight 11-win seasons for the first time in history under Nagle's watch.

BAUM NAMED PL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK, AGAIN ...
Freshman Peter Baum (Portland, Ore.) was named the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 28. This is the second straight week Baum has received this award.
Baum garnered the honor after scoring a career-high four goals against Navy last week. Baum now has 17 goals on the season, fourth in the Patriot League, and the most posted by a freshman since Brandon Corp '09 posted 19 in 2006.

MCCLELLAND NAMED TO TEAM CANADA FINAL ROSTER
Colgate men's lacrosse senior Ryan McClelland (Brampton, Ont.) was recently selected as one of the final 24 players to the Team Canada roster.
McClelland is one of two college players named to the final roster that will represent Canada at the World Championships in Manchester, England in July.

RAIDERS FACE MARYLAND AT LACROSSE DAY OF CHAMPIONS
The Colgate University men's Lacrosse team will join the Indians Rock Community Foundation for its third annual Lacrosse Day of Champions at Manhasset High School. The Day of Champions will feature two events spread out over four separate days.
The Raiders will headline the second event on May 8th as they take on Maryland at Manhasset High School. Defending New York state high-school champion Manhasset versus conference rival Cold Spring Harbor will follow the Colgate-Maryland game.
The Lacrosse Day of Champions events start on Friday, March 5 with youth tournaments for grades 4-9. Some slots are still available, and teams can register at www.irockfundhome.org. Each team will be guaranteed at least three games. Each roster player will receive complimentary tickets to both the March 6 Haverford-St. Lawrence game and the May 8 Maryland-Colgate game. Visit the web site for more details about the tournament and registration.
Tickets for the May 8th Colgate-Maryland game will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for those 18 years and younger. Tickets will go on sale April 1st at the www.irockfundhome.org web site, and the game is expected to be a sell-out.
