Soccer Game Central
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/4/10) – The men's soccer team will travel to Syracuse on Wednesday, Oct. 6 to face the Orange in a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at the Soccer Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y. The game will be streamed live on RaiderVision.
The Raiders (5-1-3) are coming off a 1-0 shutout win against Holy Cross on Saturday which improved their conference record to 2-0. Sophomore forward
Shane Conlin (Randolph, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal for Colgate.
RANKINGS
The team landed the No. 1 spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region poll last week after moving up one spot from No. 2 the week before. The team also received votes in last week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Division I Rankings, and was just five votes shy of the No. 25 slot.
STATISTIC LEADERS
Junior goalkeeper
Chris Miller (Dallas, Texas) received an honorable mention from the Patriot league this week after securing his fourth shutout of the season last weekend. Miller leads the league in goals against average (0.39), save percentage (.885), shutouts per game (0.57) and is tied for first in shutouts (4). He is also ranked 10th in the nation in save percentage.
Mike Reidy (Webster, N.Y.) and
Matt Schuber (Webster, N.Y.) continue to lead the team in points (5) off two goals and one assist each, while
Jeff Leach (New Canaan, Conn.) and
Steven Miller (Ivyland, Pa.) are tied at second with one goal and one assist apiece.
Colgate also leads the league in goals allowed (4), goals against average (.40), shutouts (5) and is currently first in the Patriot League standings above Navy and American after its win last weekend.
SCOUTING SYRACUSE
The Orange (1-5-3) is coming off three overtime ties against Cornell, Pittsburgh and Canisius, and a 4-0 loss to USF. Prior to that, the team lost to American, Columbia, Adelphi and Siena. The team's only win of the season was against Northeastern on Sept. 10, which ended in 1-0 overtime win.
Syracuse is led by junior midfielder Nick Roydhouse who has eight points off four goals.
