LEWISBURG, PA. (10/23/10)
– The Colgate men's soccer team (7-4-4) played to its fourth draw of the season on Saturday night when it tied Bucknell 3-3 in double overtime. This was the team's seventh overtime game of the season.

The Raiders came out strong, getting on the scoreboard early when junior Steven Miller (Ivyland, Pa.) found the back of the net in the 6th minute off a volley from 20 yards out to give Colgate the 1-0 lead. The team continued to hold the one-goal advantage until the Bisons answered back from a header that beat the keeper in the 21st minute to even the score at 1-1.

The second half started similar to the first, with Colgate finding an early goal in the 56th minute when sophomore Shane Conlin (Randolph, N.J.) headed in a fantastic cross from sophomore Mike Reidy (Webster, N.Y.) to give Colgate the lead once again. Sophomore Wade Martin (St. Louis, Mo.) was also credited with an assist. This time, however, the Raiders continued to attack the Bisons' net aggressively and were rewarded with a second goal in the 84th minute when Conlin beat his defender on the end line and passed the ball to junior Matt Schuber (Webster, N.Y.) who slipped it past the goalkeeper to put the score at 3-1.

This lead was short-lived with Bucknell finding two goals just one minute later, both in the 86th minute, to send the game into a double-overtime game that ended in a 3-3 draw.

“The entire group is disappointed not to come out of this game with a win, but given the circumstances, we will take the point,” stated head coach Erik Ronning. “We remain in charge of our own destiny and will get some much needed rest as we prepare for a tough road challenge at Navy.”

The Raiders, who are now 4-0-1 in conference play, will take on Navy next when it travels to Annapolis, Md. for its final road game of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m.
