Men's Soccer Travels to Bucknell Saturday

– The Colgate men's soccer team will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. this weekend for a matchup against Patriot League opponent, Bucknell. The game, which will be the team's fifth conference match of the season, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.

The Raiders (7-4-3) are coming off a 2-0 setback to No. 3 Maryland on Tuesday in College Park, Md. The team currently has a 4-0 record against league opponents, putting them at first in the league standings.

WIN AND YOU'RE IN

The Raiders, who were picked to finish tied at fourth with American in the preseason poll, are currently first in the league with a 4-0 conference record just above American which has a 3-1 mark. Both teams enter this weekend needing just one more league win to clinch a berth in the Patriot League tournament, which begins Friday, Nov. 12 at the site of the highest seed.

THE SERIES
This will be the 36th meeting between the two teams. Colgate leads the all-time series, owning a 22-8-5 record against Bucknell. The teams last met on Oct. 24 in the 2009 season, when the Bisons edged past the Raiders 2-1.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Matt Schuber (Webster, N.Y.) leads the team in points with eight off three goals and two assists. He is followed by Steven Miller (Ivyland, Pa.) who has seven points off three goals and one assist, and by Mike Reidy (Webster, N.Y.) who has two goals and one assist for five points. Miller received an honorable mention from the league this week for his performance last weekend against Lafayette. He scored the game-winning goal for the Raiders.

Junior goalkeeper Chris Miller (Dallas, Texas) is tied at first in shutouts with six and leads the league in shutouts per game (0.50). His six shutouts also have him tied for 7th in Colgate men's soccer history for shutouts in a season.

SCOUTING THE BISONS

Bucknell (6-6-1) is on a three-game unbeaten streak with a 2-2 tie against Holy Cross and wins against Army and Adelphi. The team's other wins were against Navy, Drexel, No. 15 Penn State and La Salle and its losses were to Villanova, No. 11 Ohio State, Charleston, Furman, American and UMBC. The Bisons are currently fourth in the league standings with a 2-1-1 record.

The team is led by sophomore forwards Brendan Burgdorf and Josh Plump as well as senior midfielder Tommy McCabe. Burdgdorf leads the team in points (9) off four goals and one assist. He is followed by Plump who has eight points off four goals and by McCabe who also has eight points off two goals and four assists.
