Men's Soccer Hosts Cornell on Tuesday

HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/11/10)
– The No. 24 Colgate men's soccer team will host Cornell on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in a non- conference matchup against the Big Red. The Raiders will look to improve on their 6-2-3 record.

The team is coming off a 1-0 win against Patriot League opponent, Army, last weekend. Patrick Letourneau (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal for Colgate and was awarded with an honorable mention by the league today.

RAIDERS' OFFENSE
The Raiders continue to have a variety of players contributing to their scoring this season. Seven Colgate players have scored at least one goal for the Raiders, four have scored two and four have at least one goal and one assist.

Matt Schuber (Webster, N.Y.) leads the team in points (6) off two goals and two assists while Mike Reidy (Webster, N.Y.) and Steven Miller (Ivyland, Pa.) are tied at second with five points off two goals and one assist each.

DEFENDING THE NET
Junior goalkeeper Chris Miller (Dallas, Texas) registered his fifth shutout of the season against Army. He now leads the league in shutouts per game (0.56) and is tied for first in shutouts (5).

SCOUTING CORNELL

The Big Red (3-3-4) is coming off a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Harvard last weekend. The team's three wins were against Hartwick, St. Josephs, and Canisius, and its losses were to Long Island, Vermont, and UPenn. The team has also had three other double-overtime ties with New Hampshire, Syracuse and Binghamton.

Cornell is led by junior forward Chase Aronson and junior midfielder/forward Jimmy Lannon. Aronson has seven points off three goals and one assist while Lannon has five points off one goal and three assists.
