Soccer Falls to Binghamton in OT

Goalie Chris Miller had 5 saves in the game
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (9/5/09) -   The Colgate men's soccer team held the Binghamton Bearcats scoreless throughout regulation play, but fell 1-0 in overtime during a non-conference match-up Saturday night in Binghamton. The Raiders are now 1-0-1 in their first two games this season.

Raiders' goalkeeper Chris Miller (Dallas, Texas) had five saves as the Colgate defense held off the Bearcats' offensive. Both teams had numerous opportunities to score during the regulation 90 minutes, but neither team could finish it off.

Colgate's Jeff Leach (New Canaan, Conn.) had two shots on goal and senior Chris Salmon (Auburn, Wash.) almost scored off a header which just missed the net and bounced off the crossbar.

Kyle Manscuk scored the winning goal for Binghamton just under two minutes into the overtime session. The junior back grabbed a rebound that had bounced off the crossbar and put it past Miller just inside the box.

The Bearcats edged out Colgate in shots, 11-9 and led in corner kicks 6-3. Jason Stenta had five saves for Binghamton in goal.

The Raiders will be back in action on Labor Day when they host regional rivals Syracuse University at 7 p.m. under the lights on Van Doren Field.
