Mike Reidy (Webster, N.Y.) had two goals for the Raiders and
Alex Weekes (Stroudsburg, Pa.) added a goal and an assist Colgate downed Albany, 3-1 on the road Friday evening.
The men gained an early lead in the first half when Weekes grabbed a rebound after a shot by
Jeff Leach (New Canaan, Conn.) and shot it just inside the far post
. Chris Miller (Dallas, Texas) made two saves in the first half to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead heading into the half-time break.
Colgate opened the second half with a quick goal, gaining a 2-0 advantage within the first five minutes of the half. Weekes shot was stopped by Albany's Adrian Foncette, but Reidy was there for the rebound, scoring his first collegiate point at 47:55. The rookie would score once more about twelve minutes later off a cross from senior
Chris Salmon (Auburn, Wash.).
Miller held the Great Danes scoreless for the almost 70 minutes of play, but junior Ian Peach knocked in a header for Albany during the 69th minute to prevent the shut-out. Miller had 5 saves for the Raiders, while Foncette broke an Albany record making 16 saves in the game.
The Raiders will continue with their non-conference schedule, hosting Siena at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
