Two Future Raiders Selected in the NHL Entry Draft

MONTREAL, Que. (6/27/09) - Future Colgate hockey players Jeremy Price (Milton, Ont.) and Thomas Larkin (Cocquio Trevisago, Italy) were both selected in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Saturday evening at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Price was selected with the 113th overall selection, while Larkin was the 137th pick.

Price, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound defenseman, was chosen with the 22nd pick of the fourth round (113th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks. His selection as the 113th overall pick makes him the second highest-drafted Raider in terms of overall draft position since Corbin McPherson (Folsom, Calif.) was selected by the New Jersey Devils with the 87th overall pick in the third round of the 2007 NHL Draft. Price, who tallied 12 goals and 29 assists for the Nepean Raiders, was a first team CJHL all-star for head coach Garry Galley. He was a member of the Team Canada East squad that skated to a bronze medal at the 2008 World Junior A Challenge. He was an 11th round pick by the Oshawa Generals in the 2006 OHL Draft

Larkin, a 6-foot-5, 206-pound defenseman, was the 16th pick in the fifth round (137th overall) by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Larkin played for the Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire where he set the single season scoring record for defenseman in the 2008-09 season with 52 points on 14 goals and 38 assists. Larkin also set the most career points by a defenseman with 82. He was a first team all-New England Eastern All-Star and the Team MVP for Coach Dana Barbin and led Phillips Exeter to the NESIHA title game. Prior to joining The Big Red, Larkin played for HC Varese of the Italian Hockey Federation.

Both Price and Larkin are scheduled to start suiting up for Colgate in 2009-10.
