Women’s Basketball Set to Take on Holy Cross

HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/24/09) -   The Colgate University women's basketball team will take on Holy Cross tomorrow in it's final regular season road game.  Game-time is set for 7 p.m. at the Hart Recreation Center on the Holy Cross campus.

 

Wednesday's game will mark the 42nd meeting between the two teams.  Holy Cross leads the all-time series 38-3, including a 15-0 record when playing at home.  The Raiders hosted the Crusaders earlier this season, falling to Holy Cross, 72-52.

 

The Raiders are led by sophomore Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) who is averaging 10.8 points per game, followed by Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) with 9.7 points per outing.  Wejnert led Colgate in this season's earlier match-up against Holy Cross, scoring a team-high 15 points, and game-high eight rebounds.  Kozlowski added 14 points for the Raiders in that game, while freshmen Candice Green (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Holly Havenstein (Mt. Airy, Md.) contributed eight points apiece.

 

The Crusaders are currently 12-15 overall and 7-5 in the Patriot League after defeating American this past weekend, 58-55.  Junior Briana McFadden leads Holy Cross in scoring averaging 15.1 points per game, followed by Bethany O'Dell with 12.5 per outing.  Whitney Fremeau tops the boards for the Crusaders with 4.7 rebounds per game, followed by McFadden with 4.6.  In their previous meeting with Colgate this season, McFadden led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Fremeau and Meredith Ward with 12 points each.  Fremeau also had seven rebounds for the Crusaders. 

 

Colgate will host its final regular season home game this Saturday, Feb. 28 against Navy.  Game-time is set for 2 p.m. on Cotterell Court.
