PRINCETON, N.J. (10/20/09) - The Colgate men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match-up against the Princeton Tigers, 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Roberts Stadium.
The Raiders were outshot 24-6, but held the Tigers to just one goal in the first half of play, as freshman goalkeeper
Grant Reed (Petoskey, Mich.) came up with six saves in the opening 35 minutes of his collegiate debut.
Princeton's first goal came at 39:42 after sophomore Antoine Hoppenot beat out Reed on a one-on-one. The Tigers' continued to control the game offensively into the second half, tallying their second goal at 63:57 off a free kick just inside the box. Princeton collected one final goal in the last 10 minutes of play for the shutout victory.
Reed finished the night with an impressive 11 saves, while Thomas Gasparini picked up one for the Tigers. Freshman
Shane Conlin (Randolph, N.J.) led the Raiders' attack with three shots, while senior
Jameson Fauver (Harwinton, Conn.) got off Colgate's only shot on goal.
The Raiders will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host Patriot League foe Bucknell at 7 p.m. on Van Doren Field.
